Call Committee Update
The call committee met on August 15th with Pastor Chris Stienstra of the Northern Illinois Synod. Pastor Chris explained the interview process which included sample questions and ideas for pre-interview hospitality. Most important, Pastor Chris spoke on the topic of confidentiality regarding the candidate’s name. A candidate’s name must be kept confidential during the interview process as well as when a recommended candidate meets with the Church Council regarding salary and other details of the call. A candidate’s name is not released until the candidate is presented to the congregation at a special congregational meeting.
The call committee will meet again on August 24th to finalize interview questions. Due to the September Messenger deadline, a complete report on the August 24th meeting is not available.
Thanks for your understanding of the confidential nature of this process. Due to Pastor Chris’ retirement at the end of August, the synod will be assigning a new liaison for continued guidance.
