WELCA OF IMMANUEL – June 2016

70 attended the Mother & Daughter Potluck Banquet on Tuesday, May 3rd.  The program for the evening was the “Prairie Echoes Chorus” from DeKalb, with our own Sue Dirks a member of the group.  $128.00 offering was sent to the Sauk Valley Domestic Violence program of the Y.W.C.A.

National Day of Prayer Breakfast was served by our WELCA group at Immanuel.  Mayor Bill Wescott of Rock Falls and Mayor Skip Lee of Sterling were hosts of the group.  79 plus our helpers were served on May 5th.  Special thanks to Pam Meyer, Joan Tuft, Betty Clementz, Bonnie Cassens, Joyce Kereven and Shirley Downey who helped with set-up on Wednesday afternoon with some coming at 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Mission Action sewing ladies have made two quilts to be given to two high school graduates.

WELCA will no longer provide tablecloths on tables in Fellowship Hall.  Any organization or individual hosting receptions, etc. will provide their own tablecloths and/or placemats.  Jill will continue printing placemats for Immanuel’s use.  Placemats for funeral lunches will have the prayer printed on them along with the drawing of the church, no separate prayer cards needed.

Mission Action Sewing ladies will be meeting on Wednesdays, June 8th and June 22nd at 8:30 a.m.  Please join m at 8:30 a.m. until noon or part of the morning.  It is a time of fellowship in preparing quilts and lap robes for those in need and much appreciated.

Next combined circle meeting will be on June 21st at 9:00 a.m. with Mary  Circle, hostesses.  Pastor Vicki Sauter will present the Bible Study – “Treasure in Clay Jars” with the theme verse of 2 Corinthians 4:7.  This first study of the summer session was written by Angela Shannon, a pastor in Dallas, TX.  The next two sessions also written by her will be in July and August.  All women of Immanuel are members of WELCA and encouraged to attend.
