A Word from the Pastor

Beloved people of Immanuel, no matter what life feels like, God is with you and loves you completely. Each day is an opportunity to lean into God’s love, presence and grace and to allow it to be the force that drives the day.  Although God’s presence, love and grace are gifts we  ALWAYS have with us, it is our job to remember, enjoy and use them.  This takes intentionality!  In the midst of the fear, grief & uncertainty of each day, you can remember your baptism—you can remember God’s love for you as you wash your hands (It takes roughly thirty seconds to sing “Jesus Loves Me”, wash, sing and remember).  You can enjoy God’s love as you pause to breathe deep—breathing in God’s love (breathe in), letting go of fear (breathe out). You can pause in each day and give thanks to God; taking in a sunset or a bird’s song or a meal carefully prepared.  You can use God’s presence, love and grace as a hiding place—a home base, to fuel you as you consider the needs of others and do what you can.  We are going to make it through this season fueled by God’s presence love and grace.

P.S. Thank you for your diligence in exploring Matthew!  During Holy Week, Easter and the Season of Easter we will jump to the end of Matthew and then return to the portions we have not yet studied.  May God guide our journey and awaken us to the wonder of God’s word!

Holy Humor Sunday is on April 19.  If you have a clean joke that you would like to share please let me know.
