Artists needed for Black History Month

Artists needed for Black History Month The Diversity Committee of the Sauk Valley is seeking artists to submit original artwork for Black History Month from artists of ALL AGES. The artwork needs to reflect African-Americans,    African-American history, African-American    culture, or African American ancestry.  The artwork may consist of paintings, drawings, art deco, statues, sculptures and beyond. Artwork must be submitted by the end of January to The YWCA (412 1st Ave., Sterling) Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Artwork will be displayed during the month of February at local businesses and churches.  There will be a full display of all contributions at the Rock Falls & Sterling  Black History Church Service on February 22 at First Presbyterian Church in Sterling and at the Black History Ball on February 23 at Brandywine.  Art will also be displayed at Macedonia Baptist Church in Sterling on February 24 and at the YWCA for the last week of February.  Artists may pick up their art work at the YWCA on February 28.  Creativity is a gift from God!  People of all ages:  YOU are invited to submit art for Black History Month!  If you have any questions, please contact Tina Wren at 815-590-9350.
