A Job for “Anybody”

The following cautionary tale teaches us in yet another way that we to communicate, listen to each other and seek ways to engage one another.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.  Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.  Somebody got angry, because it was Everybody’s job.  Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized Everybody wouldn’t do it.  So Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

We are the Anybodies who are the peace-makers.

I’m sure you have all heard the phrase ‘many hands make light work’…  Regardless of the event, without people to volunteer, the work doesn’t get done and the event is not successful.  The ‘events’ that take place here at church are no different.  All that we do here is ministry – whether it is VBS, mopping the floors and washing windows or, assisting in worship.

Our Sunday morning ‘event’ – the liturgy – is about everyone coming together to worship and give thanks.  This obviously requires planning, but it also requires participation from everyone.  One person alone cannot do it all.    While we generally do have the needed ‘ministers’ ( which is everyone) to assist on Sunday morning, it is often last minute.  We can do better.

So – please take a look at the various sign ups, on the table by the office, to see where you can be of help – this is particularity needed for ushering. If you’ve never done this before, we’ll pair you up with someone who has. Ushering can be done by anyone – even children and youth.
