Dear Brothers, Sisters and friends of Immanuel,
As I write this, the forecast for the weather today is a balmy 72 degrees…!! Almost a record breaker…..And so it is hard to imagine that we really are quickly getting to the end of the fall season – Christmas is just around the corner….
But first…………. The season of Advent began on November 27 and continues for 4 weeks. This 4 week time is more than just shopping for Christmas. It is a time of preparation – a time of waiting – a time of anticipation – a time to just be. And I know that it is not always easy. Our lives are busy – sometimes frantic even.
‘Advent’ means the coming of something – in this case the coming of the celebration of the birth of Jesus. And so – we have this time to prepare our hearts and minds – to anticipate the joy that Christmas brings. And so you might ask – ‘how do we do that?’
I’m glad you asked! Sunday mornings are a perfect time to come together (the coffee is on!) to gather as a community of faith, to journey together in this season of Advent…
So I hope to see you in worship …………..
Peace and blessing to you all during this holy season…
Pr. Vicki
