Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church will be celebrating its 140th Anniversary on September 24 at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Clements will be presiding over worship.
Activities will include the following:
- A potluck luncheon will be held after worship for fellowship and to celebrate our heritage. Beverages will be provided.
- Photos will be taken immediately after worship of the full congregation on the steps outside, of all pastors and interns in attendance, and of the direct descendants of the charter members of William Herbon, Fred Hein, Henry Dietz, Peter Dietz, Henry Schnour, Engelrech Trouth, Ulrich Goeken, John Goeken, Mr. Schmidt, Mr. Wedndelbach, Mr. Schottmeyer, J. Praetz, Mr. Behrens, Mr. Haag, Mr. Horner and Mr. Oltman Oltman.
- After the potluck former pastors and interns will have time to share their memories.
- A ‘friendly competition’ – non-threatening – Challenge Bowl will be held on the topics of the Bible, Martin Luther’s life, and Luther’s Catechism which will be led by Matthew Hicks.
A small printed History of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church – the First 140 Years along with a souvenir gift will be given to every member in attendance.
So what do we need you as a member of Immanuel to do?
- Plan to attend on September 24. Mark it on your calendar, so you will be in
attendance on that Sunday.
- Help us to seek out direct descendants of charter members; as many as 3 – 4
generations are somewhere. If you and your family are blood descendants,
then plan to come to be a part of that photo history. What a way to validate
the longevity of our congregation family!
- Plan to participate on a team in the Challenge Bowl. Brush up on what you
may have learned years ago. It will be fun!
- Come and have fun, renew old acquaintances, and invite anyone to join us
as a past member of our church.
