Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice! Psalm 130:1-2a (NRSV)
There is much for us to cry out about. At the printing of this newsletter over 3 million people worldwide have or have had the coronavirus; over 200,000 have died with over 800,000 recovered and nearly two million still in process (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ ). There is much for us to cry out about. Doing essential work and sheltering in place can be difficult. Shifting to working and learning from home can be difficult. Not being able to do the things you had dreamt of and planned on doing is difficult. There is much for us to cry out about.
Whatever you are feeling in these days, it is okay—feelings are neither bad nor good, they just are. May you allow yourself to feel what you feel, crying out to God; expressing it all—for God cares for you. If you are worried that you might get stuck in your feelings, set a timer and loudly share it all with God, pouring out your heart. When the timer goes off, go do something you enjoy; walk, take a bath, paint a picture, build something, garden, cook, etc. Allow yourself to feel and remain committed to living in God’s love. No matter what it feels like, you are not alone; God never leaves you and loves you completely!
