Council Highlights – August 13, 2018

Immanuel will participate in the Fiesta Day parade on September 15, 2018.  A motion was made by Dennis Schumaker, seconded by Bill Wescott, to purchase banners from the capital fund, not to exceed $500, to adorn the parade float. Motioned unanimously approved.

The application for incorporation was submitted to the Illinois Secretary of State in July.  Notification was received that incorporation status has been approved by the State with an effective date July 20, 2018.

Construction on a Nicor gas line running along 8th Avenue is scheduled for fall 2018.  The gas line will run underground along the east side of 8th Avenue and current plans show completion of the project by November Nicor is also seeking a staging area for pipe and equipment and is interested in utilizing Immanuel’s north parking lot.  Consensus from council was that this would be considered for a fee and with the understanding that any damage to the parking lot would be repaired by Nicor.  A motion was made by Scott Attig, seconded by Sid Attig, to appoint Bill Wescott as the council liaison to communicate with Nicor and the City Council.  Unanimously approved.

Council approved the purchase of $250 of plants from Poci’s for landscape updates along the west side of the church.  Poci’s will lay out the plants where they think they should go and Immanuel will discern final placement and plant.  The date for planting is to be announced.

Sunday School will begin on September 9, 2018 at 10:15 am with a Rally Day Kick Off!  We will have three age groups, Pre-K-1, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-6th.  A whole year Sunday School schedule and registration forms will be mailed out to all eligible youth. 7th-12th graders are invited to join in the Sunday Morning confirmation classes that will be offered or assist in teaching young youth.
