Reformation 500 Celebration to be held Sunday, October 8
Immanuel Lutheran will be hosting a three-part celebration in observance of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation of Martin Luther on Sunday afternoon, October 8 at Immanuel Lutheran Church beginning at 2:30 p.m.
First a video prepared by Rick Steves will take viewers to the Germany of 1517 to share the world as Martin Luther knew it. Following that introduction to the history of that time, Katie Luther will come to speak to share her life with Martin Luther as his wife. “Katie Luther” will be portrayed by enactor Judy Engerbretson.
A German meal will follow immediately in the church basement. It will consist of sausages, red cabbage, sauerkraut, Au Gratin potatoes, bread and butter, and apple crisp for dessert. Beverages will include coffee, German beer, and lemonade. Every attendee will receive a stein from the beverage. A free-will donation for the cost of the meal will be accepted.
Tri-church members are also being invited and asked to register their attendance as well.
It is necessary that members wishing to attend the dinner sign up no later than September 10, the day of the God’s Work, Our Hands event.
A clip board has been placed on the table in the Narthex.
