WELCA October 2017

Mission Action Sewing ladies will be meeting on Wednesday, October 11th and October 25th at 8:30 a.m.  Please join them at 8:30 a.m. until noon or part of the morning.  It is a time of fellowship in preparing quilts and lap robes for those in need and much appreciated.  There are many tasks to be done that do not require actual sewing. All quilts are given locally as there is a great need in our area.

The next Bible study led by Pastor Bree will be on October 17th, 9:00a.m. with Martha Circle as hostesses.  This will be Session I of the creed – I believe in Jesus Christ . . . .  How does the creed encompass faithful living in imitation of Christ?  In other words, what does it mean to believe even more about Jesus and following Jesus than we say in the words of the creed?  All women of Immanuel are members of WELCA and encouraged to attend.

Looking ahead – World Community Day of Church Women United (CWU) is Friday, November 3, 2017.  It will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Sterling beginning with a 12:30 p.m. dessert followed by the program.

Women of the ELCA will be observing Thank Offering Sunday on November 12th.  There are envelopes in the pews marked for Thank Offering.  For more than 100 years Lutheran women have given thanks to God and dollars to mission through Thank offering. These offerings provide crucial support for ministries that include Gather magazine and Bible study; ministry resources for women’s health; human trafficking; outreach through social media and partnerships with other Christian women’s organizations.
