“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.” 2 Corinthians 13:13
These words wrap up 2 Corinthians, an epistle or letter, written to the community of faith at Corinth. This three-fold, Trinitarian blessing and greeting commends the grace of Jesus, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit on all humanity. Throughout generations, pastors and worship leaders have been using these words to remind themselves and others of God’s grace through Jesus, God’s love and the connectedness the Holy Spirit brings. Throughout the pandemic and in every season, these words can be an anchor that reminds of God who dwells with us, even when it may not feel like it. Today and everyday, we can dwell in the grace of Jesus—forgiveness—that ushers us into lives that are always being made new! God’s love for you and all of humanity knows no end—may you feel it and share it! The Holy Spirit sweeps us up in relationship to God and each other as one Body in Christ! May these realities be evident in our lives—actions, words and thoughts. Sustain and guide us O God. Amen.
